Who doesn’t like free stuff? Not me, that’s for sure. Murders at Karlov Manor’s release on Arena has a bunch of codes that you can cash in for some experience, some cosmetics and… maybe more? Info is still coming, but we have solved some clues and have a handful of codes (and their associated goodies) ready to go!

What Are These Clues in MTG Arena?

With the release of Murders at Karlov Manor: Alchemy, Wizards have brought some riddles to Arena that, when solved, give you a code you can cash in for goodies on the client. There are five of these in total, although not all of them are available to cash in as yet.

Clue 1

The first clue that you will have received in your inbox is as follows:

Hello, detective. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance.

A mysterious figure has been leaving cryptic clues all over Arena. We'll need your help to crack the case.

Solve the riddle below, and enter the Code in the store for a prize!

The first clue we found is easy: “Who is known as the ‘Master Sleuth' on Ravnica?”

Good luck, detective! More clues may appear in Arena over the next few days, so stay vigilant. We must solve all five clues before we leave Ravnica on April 9th.

PS – Remember! Your code phrases cannot contain spaces.

Of course, Ravnica’s Master Sleuth is none other than Alquist Proft! For this clue you can enter either of his names (“alquist” or “proft”). If you do, you get 500 XP and an Auspicious Arrival card style. The inspector is on the case!

Clue 2

We also have the second clue, which is:

Good work tracking down clues so far, detective.

The only lead we have right now is what you just found in the Store. It's the Dossier card style of a fellow sleuth.

How does it describe the Homicide Investigator's approach to solving crime?

Remember, once you have the answer, enter it as a Code to get a reward. Best of luck.

PS – Remember! Your code phrases cannot contain spaces.

This time the clue is referring to a free card style in the Arena Store for Homicide Investigator. If you look at the flavor text for the dossier version (which is the version in the store) it describes the investigative skills as “impeccable”, which just so happens to be the 2nd code! This time when you enter it you get another 500 XP and a The Chase is On card style.

Clue 3

Clue three isn’t officially out yet, but an inside source (read: game data files) has given us the message!

Congratulations, detective. You've found the next clue. A mysterious figure left this for us to find outside of Karlov Manor:

“Across Ravnica, fear has been nurtured,

and an evil plot have been furthered,

as poor Teysa Karlov has been tragically ‘________'”

Who would write such a horrible rhyme? Remember once you have the answer to enter it as a Code to get a reward. Good luck, detective! And stay safe.

PS – Remember! Your code phrases cannot contain spaces.

Rhyming helps here, as does knowing Teysa’s fate from the story. The third code is “murdered”. This one also gives 500XP and a cosmetic.

Clue 4

Hello again, detective. Thank you for your tireless hunt—we wouldn't be making much headway without you. Here's the next clue:

Enter the passphrase ‘Ravnica Lineup' in the Deckbuilder. You will be presented with a number of notable figures. The high and mighty of our fair city. But someone is missing. What is the pattern, and who–or what–is not included in this rogues' gallery?

Submit your answer into the Code entry in the store, and you'll be well on your way to cracking this case!

PS – If you're stumped, make sure to filter for unowned cards to see all 9 Ravnica legends! And remember, your code phrases cannot contain spaces.

— A Friend

Well, we’ve got a task to follow up on here. If you search “Ravnica Lineup” in the search box in the deckbuilder you get…

Who is missing from the lineup of suspects from the MKM story?

The fourth code is “izoni”.

Another round of 500XP and cosmetics.

Clue 5

This clue is a bit of a spoiler if you haven’t had a chance to get up to date with the story. This may be the final “real” clue… Our mole has left out a couple of details, but if you keep reading you’ll see there’s more tantalising tidbits to be had!

Welcome back, detective. Our hunt is almost at its end.

Trostani is really three sisters
Cim, Oba, and Ses
Within Vitu-Ghazi discord festers
And one dryad must confess

Blooms burning in rage
With a sickly aroma
The sweet pollen shows
That the killer was ___

Once you have the answer, enter it as a Code for your final reward.

–A Friend

PS – Remember! Your code phrases cannot contain spaces.

The killer was “oba”!.. We did warn you of spoilers!

And this time you get 1,000 XP and a Totally Normal Event Token!

Clue 6

This last ‘clue' isn't as great as it's predecessors. Here it is:

Almost There!

You almost got the right answer! You're close, detective, don't give up.

Try finding a synonym to what you've already entered. You've got this!

–A Friend

PS – Remember! Your code phrases cannot contain spaces.

The “answer” is: “2005”

Enter the code on MTG Arena for a free copy of Red Herring….

The Final Reward

If you solve all of these clues you are awarded a “Totally Normal Event Token”. This is likely to be some kind of special event, but your guess is as good as ours as to what exactly this is!

At least it’s good to know it’s not all for XP and card styles for commons and uncommons!

There was another, similar, riddle to solve with the release of the main set, which is worth looking into if you haven’t already. We’ve got full instructions on the main Arena codes article, so it’s probably best to check it out there as it’s slightly more involved. If you follow these instructions you’ll get 5,000 XP and a card sleeve.
