Magic: The Gathering is crossing over with Star Trek later this year, and we're getting our first look at the set from WeeklyMTG today. Here's everything we've been shown from the last set of the year so far. Check out Draftsim's new spoilers page to keep up with everything revealed from this set and more!

We've got a couple uncanny captains up first, which is probably the most human humans we've seen on MTG cards. Captain James T. Kirk and Captain Kathryn Janeway are mythics from the upcoming set. They showcase a new officer creature type and multiple alternate arts (including surge foils on the right). Explore shows up on Kathryn Janeway, but will not be a main mechanic of the set.

There are also Collector Booster exclusives with signatures from William Shatner, Kate Mulgrew, and more. There will be seven signed headliners in the set, and it's confirmed that they're not all Captains. There are just over 200 of each signed card.

Nobody's surprised to see spacecraft/station return from Edge of Eternities, or the U.S.S. Enterprise. This U.S.S. Enterprise-D, Galaxy-Class is a rare version of the spacecraft, which will appear at uncommon and mythic rare too.

Modal spells will return to represent the quandries present across Star Trek media. This isn't a mechanic necessarily, but a common card type you'll see across the set.

The modal cards might not have a new card type, but they've planted the new “dilemma” terminology in the game to refer to anything that requires you to choose a mode on a spell or ability. This works with the modal cards in this set as well as anything pre-existing with a bulleted list of choices.

Federation is a new ability word that scales an ability up to the number of creature types you have among non-Borg creatures. The non-Borg thing is both flavorful, but also avoids these cards being broken with changelings.

Highly Illogical is a nice little counterspell from the set.

Salt Vampire is a nice little disruptive 2-drop with an ability we've seen before on highly playable cards like Vendilion Clique and Revealing Eye.

The set contains 10 sagas, five rares and five uncommons. They were designed to be fairly simple, though The City on the Edge of Forever certainly bucks the trend, bringing us a new phasing card.

No set is complete without an Ajani's Pridemate variant. We've got one here with Dr. Beverly Crusher, which brings the doctor creature type back into the fold as well.

Crystalline Entity is a sweet new top-end artifact creature for ramp or cheaty decks, and a new sweeper for artifact decks.

Pulling from some other Star Trek sources, we've got Brad Boimler, Eager Ensign and Beckett Mariner, Impetuous Ensign, which play well together in Limited.

The set will have a “Stardates” bonus sheet, which includes stuff from the J. J. Abrahms universe, and gives us a reskin of Sheoldred, the Apocalypse. These will show up in Play Boosters, but are not Standard legal.

Shock lands are back once again. They're all in this one set, which means when Standard rotation happens, all 10 will remain legal from this set.

There are also textless versions of the shock, which we made some guesses earlier today! There will be surge foils of these as well. Below are the face legendaries from the upcoming Welcome Decks, designed to be fairly simple, and accompanied by another unique rare from those decks.

A note on the Borg creatures: These are artifact creatures with a “sliver-like” quality. Borg Queen, Perfection Manifest showcases the assimilate ability, which puuts a creature into play and makes it a Borg.

Landfall has been confirmed to be in the main set to some degree.
The four Commander precons were revealed, though only with basic information. These include:
- Federation Fleet ()
- Landing Party ()
- Klingon Fury ()
- We are the Borg ()
That's it from Star Trek for now. This was only a First Look, so expect to see more as we get closer to the set's release this November.
